This article outlines network acceleration practices for Taiwan, from whether to use native IP, combination with CDN, node and back-source layout, to cost and performance trade-offs. It provides operational deployment points and implementation sequence to help engineering and operation and maintenance teams design stable and low-latency access paths while meeting compliance and performance requirements.

Prioritize geography and network topology when selecting nodes: access points in Taipei, Taichung and Kaohsiung will provide the lowest last-mile latency. If the business needs to reduce cross-border instability, priority can be given to deploying native IP in edge computer rooms in Taiwan or Hong Kong or Singapore that are directly connected to Taiwan to reduce the impact of BGP hop count and cross-border link fluctuations.

The cache should be placed as close to the user as possible on the edge node. Static resources and cacheable dynamic fragments should be cached through the CDN edge. The back-to-origin server is recommended to be deployed in a computer room with low-latency interconnection with the edge. For scenarios where session stickiness needs to be maintained, API gateways or edge return-to-origin points can be deployed in Taiwan to reduce the frequency of cross-border return-to-origin.

The benefits brought by native IP include more stable routing, lower false alarm rate and higher traceability, which is suitable for finance, e-commerce or businesses that connect to third-party whitelist services. Although shared IP is low-cost and fast to integrate, when it is abused or blocked, the risk will affect all customers sharing the IP, so it is recommended to use native IP for critical businesses.

First, the static content is handed over to CDN for caching, and dynamic requests are returned to the origin through intelligent routing or strategy to the core server marked with native IP. Use splitters (such as Layer7 routing and edge functions) for differentiated processing: classify requests by URI, cookie or header, and send sensitive or whitelisted requests directly to the native IP back to the source.

Use indicators to drive decisions: Model using P95/P99 latency, hit rate, return-to-origin bandwidth and cost per GB as the main lines. Verify the cost-effectiveness of different node combinations and caching strategies through small-scale A/B testing, calculate the edge coverage and number of native IPs required to achieve target latency, and form a budget plan for gradually expanding deployment.

Estimate bandwidth and concurrency based on historical traffic peak times multiplied by a safety factor (usually 1.5~2 times), and set elastic expansion strategies on both the edge and back-to-source sides. For promotions or high-traffic events, add cache preheating, increase back-to-origin concurrency thresholds, and BGP routing redundancy in Taiwan or nearby areas in advance to avoid packet loss and connection timeouts caused by sudden traffic.
